I’m not sure about you but I’m still wondering why we were taught Pythagoras’ theorem at school and not how things such as taxes, pensions and mortgages work! The lack of personal finance education in the UK isn’t great which is one of the many reasons why I decided to create All Things Money. As many of you know, my main mission is to help people increase their financial literacy, so today I am here with a few of my favourite personal finance books. So, if you are someone who would like to further increase their knowledge on the world of money now that we have some extra time on our hands then here are my top 3 personal finance book recommendations!

1) Money: A User’s Guide
This book is honestly my number one book recommendation for anyone looking to brush up on their basic financial understanding. I stumbled across this book during my placement year a couple of years ago now and I am so glad I did. Written by Laura Whateley, this book helps guide you through the absolute basics from housing, student loans, investing and so much more! After reading the book, I was honestly left shocked at how little I knew when it came to the world of money despite studying Business Management at Uni. So, if you are looking for a simple, easy to read personal finance book then I couldn’t recommend this book more!
2) Smart Women Finish Rich
This book was written by David Bach and it is the perfect read for all of my ladies out there! Whilst this book is mainly aimed at women residing in America, the book is still full of LOTS of useful tips and information relevant for women of all ages and backgrounds. The book is split into 9 different ‘steps’ to help teach us women how we can better take control of our own finances motivating us to feel more empowered and secure about our financial future! Whether you are looking for tips on how to spend your money wisely or wanting to prepare for life after retirement, then this is the book for you!
3) All Things Money: The Handbook
Okay, this may be a little biased of me but I couldn’t not mention the Handbook! If you are yet to read it, then the Handbook is a 52-page comprehensive guide with six different chapters including budgeting, saving, investing, taxes, mortgages and pensions! This eBook is another great easy-to-read guide for anyone looking to improve their financial literacy!
There are also a few other personal finance books I highly recommend if you want to delve further into the world of money! Feel free to view my other recommended reads here.
